The Red Lion is situated in the village of Welwyn in Hertfordshire, just a mile to the north of Welwyn Garden City.

The village is located close to the A1, where the 6-lane motorway merges into 4-lanes.

A number of bus routes operate throughout the area, linking the village to the nearby towns of Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, St Albans, and Hemel Hempstead.

If you’re travelling by train, the nearest station is Welwyn North Railway Station, located approximately one mile away in the nearby village of Digswell.

For an insight into the history of the area, Welwyn Roman Baths allows you to explore the remains of the former bathhouse and learn about how the Romans liked to relax. The Mill Green Mill and Museum, an 18th century working watermill and museum set in a lovely riverside setting, offers three exhibition rooms packed with colourful displays of local art and history. Once you’ve become well acquainted with the history of Welwyn, come along to The Red Lion to enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing drink.

There are also plenty of family-friendly activities in and around the area. Hatfield Park Farm is the perfect place for your little ones to get up close and personal with traditional breeds of sheep, pigs, goats, cattle, ducks, geese, and turkeys. As well as feeding the animals, you can also take a free tractor ride around the farm!
